An eight-speed automatic transmission pairs with this powerful engine. The third option is a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine that delivers 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission pairs with the diesel engine. Rear-wheel drive comes standard with the option to upgrade to four-wheel drive which comes standard on the Z71 and ZR2 trims. 

Towing Capacity 

The towing capacity of the 2021 Colorado varies depending on the powertrain and the added towing packages and equipment. The base engine has a maximum towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds. Choose the V-6 engine, and the Colorado can tow up to 7,000 pounds. When you need the maximum amount of towing power, choose the turbodiesel engine to get up to 7,700 pounds of towing capacity. When properly equipped, all trims of the Colorado have a payload capacity of up to 1,550 pounds. 

Off-Road Performance 

The Chevrolet Colorado has amazing off-road capabilities. You can drive the Z71 and ZR2 trims from the showroom straight to backcountry roads as they’re both equipped for driving over rough terrain. the four-wheel-drive system helps to give the pickup truck plenty of traction. Other off-road features include locking front and rear differentials, a heavy-duty suspension system, increased ground clearance, and a specialized damping system.
