2022 Chevy Blazer: 5 Top Features and Specs

Fans of midsize crossover sport-utilities will love the 2022 Chevy Blazer. Chevy reimagined its Blazer nameplate in 2019, and this fourth offering of the new line has some impressive updates over last year’s model. Let’s look at the Blazer’s five top features and specs.

1. Engine and Transmission

Chevy added a third engine choice to the line to fill the gap between the economical 2.5-liter four-cylinder and the zipper 3.6-liter V-6. A new 2.0-liter turbo-four adds a bit of power and punch to the midline trim offerings and allows buyers access to Blazers with tow capability without forcing them to buy into the premium trim levels.

Both the V-6 and the turbo-four provide plenty of power for light towing, and both are available in all-wheel-drive configurations. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder is front-wheel drive only.

2. Towing Capacity

While midsize crossovers don’t immediately bring towing to mind, the 2022 Blazer provides some decent towing capability. Front-wheel drive Blazers can tow up to 1500 lbs, and the all-wheel-drive Blazers can handle up to 4500 lbs.

3. Trim Levels

There are six trim levels of Blazers to choose from in the 2022 model (L, LT, 2LT, 3LT, RS, and Premier). The first two levels are front-wheel 4-cylinder vehicles; the middle two offer a 4-cylinder or V-6 and come in either front- or all-wheel-drive; the RS and Premier are all V-6 all-wheel-drives.

4. Cargo Capacity

The Blazer boasts a surprisingly generous cargo area. The backseats fold down nicely and providing 64 cubic feet of cargo space with occupants in the front seats only. That’s enough cargo room for a pretty significant Ikea run. When passengers occupy the backseats, owners still have about 30.5 cubic feet of storage.  There are small, convenient storage cubbies in the door wells and center console, as well. The Blazer is capable of seating up to five people.

5. Driver Assist, Safety & Infotainment

The 2022 Blazer offers a range of safety and driver assistance, including lane departure warning, automated emergency braking, and more. The 8-inch touchscreen integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and there are optional upgrades for Bose speakers and built-in navigation.

The Chevy Blazer is beautiful, versatile, and frankly a better all-around buy than it’s larger, boxier predecessor. Glasscock Chevrolet and take one out for a test drive. You might fall in love.
