Trim Levels
The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe showcases an aggressive front end that boasts eye-catching lighting and an oversized front grille, along with upgraded rear elements. It comes in six trim levels, which are LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. On the base trim, exterior features include 18-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels, acoustic laminated glass, black assist steps, heated and power side mirrors, roof rails, and all LED lighting, Step up to the LT to get a hands-free liftgate. The sportier RST comes with 22-inch wheels, black trim, and a unique front fascia.
If you plan to take your Tahoe off the beaten path, the Z71 trim is the best option. It comes with a two-speed transfer case for low-range gearing, a unique front fascia that boosts the approach angle, a set of all-terrain tires, front skid plates, and tow hooks. With the Premier comes magnetically controlled shock absorbers, while the High Country has its own grille with bronze accents. A panoramic sunroof is available as an option.
Engine
The standard engine on all models except the top High Country is a 5.3-liter V-8 that makes 383 pound-feet of torque and 355 horsepower. It works with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The High Country trim has a more powerful 6.2-liter V-8 unit, which pumps out 460 pound-feet of torque and 420 horsepower. Chevy also plans to add an optional 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 diesel engine as an option at some point, and it will be available on all trims except the Z71.
Performance
All Tahoe trim levels are available with four-wheel drive, although it comes standard on the Z71 model. Even the base engine is quite capable, boasting responsiveness and power that don't disappoint. The new independent rear suspension has also improved the ride quality and handling, while the optional adaptive air suspension with a load-leveling feature is an appealing upgrade. Additionally, the steering on the 2021 model is more responsive and precise than the outgoing model.
Interior
Climb into the cabin of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe to find cloth upholstery, a six-speaker audio system with a 10.2-inch touch screen and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, power-adjustable front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Opting for the LT adds leather upholstery, wireless device charging, heated front seats, and a Bose audio system. The RST has a set of unique seats with contrasting stitching, while the Z71 has several upgraded design elements.
For a more luxurious ride, choose the Premier, which has heated and ventilated front seats, second-row bucket seats, and a Bose audio system, or the High Country, which has even more upgraded comfort elements. You can also get a rear-seat entertainment system as an option.
Safety Features
Every 2021 Tahoe comes with anti-lock brakes, air bags throughout the three rows of seating, stability and traction control, forward collision mitigation, and a rearview camera. The upper trims add features like a surround-view camera, parking sensors, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, a rear pedestrian alert system, adaptive cruise control, and a head-up display.
