2021 Chevrolet Suburban

The Chevrolet Suburban has been redesigned for the 2021 model year, showing off a new independent rear suspension, a more aggressive front end, and sleek curves all the way around. It comes in six trim levels — LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. From the outside, the LS features LED headlights and taillights, 18-inch aluminum wheels, black side assist steps, heated and power side mirrors, roof rails, and rain-sensing wipers. The LT adds a hands-free liftgate, while the RST includes larger 22-inch wheels, a unique front fascia, and black exterior trim. Notable upgrades on the Z71 include a further upgraded front fascia that improves the ground clearance, front skid plates, all-terrain tires, and tow hooks. The two upper trims are more luxurious, boasting magnetically controlled shock absorbers and exterior upgrades. The top also has a special grille that features bronze accents.

The lower five trim levels of the 2021 Suburban come standard with a 5.3-liter V-8 engine that produces 383 pound-feet of torque and 355 horsepower. It works with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The High Country trim has its own 6.2-liter V-8 unit that pumps out 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. If you prefer diesel power, check out the available 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine that produces 460 pound-feet of torque and 277 horsepower. It will be available as an option on all but the Z71 by the end of 2020.

The Suburban is powerful and capable. It's a large model that can tow and haul heavy loads, while the steering and braking are pleasantly direct. The optional air-spring suspension with adaptive dampers helps to boost the vehicle's handling, responsiveness, and ride comfort. Four-wheel drive is also standard on the Z71 and optional on the other trims.

The cabin of the 2021 Suburban is even more spacious, thanks to an increase in overall length and wheelbase length. Within the cabin of the base trim, you'll find cloth upholstery on the seating for eight, a 10.2-inch touch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, a six-speaker audio system, and power-adjustable front seats. Choose the LT and get an auto-dimming rearview mirror, driver's seat memory settings, wireless device charging, heated front seats, and an upgraded Bose sound system. The RST boasts its own special seats with contrasting stitching, while the off-road-themed Z71 has a few interior styling upgrades. With the Premier and High Country trims, features include a further upgraded Bose surround-sound system, heated and ventilated front seats, second-row bucket seats, and perforated leather upholstery. You can also add a rear entertainment system as an option.

The 2021 Suburban comes standard with anti-lock brakes, a rearview camera, forward collision mitigation, hill-start assist, stability and traction control, and OnStar services. Additional safety features include front and rear parking sensors, lane-keep assist, blind spot monitoring, a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, and a rear pedestrian alert system.
