One of the Malibu's main selling points is its sophisticated design that features sleek, modern lines and a distinctive chrome grille. You can choose from a range of exciting paint colors, including Cajun Red Tintcoat, Silver Ice Metallic, and two new additions, Stone Gray Metallic and Black Cherry Metallic. There are also five trim levels to choose from, namely the L, LS, RS, LT, and Premier. The Malibu features two available engine choices. The standard engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter that's paired with a CVT automatic transmission and generates 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. For a more spirited performance, opt for the turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine that works together with a nine-speed automatic transmission to make 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Both powertrains feature a front-wheel-drive system.

The Malibu offers a comfortable ride and secure handling with its excellently tuned suspension effortlessly smoothing out those rough patches on the road. If it's efficiency you're after, opt for the base engine, which features impressive fuel-saving technologies. These include stop/start technology, variable valve timing, and direct injection.

The cabin of the Malibu offers supportive seating and ample headroom and legroom for up to five passengers. Behind the rear seats is a respectably sized cargo area of 15.8 cubic feet, and the rear seats can be folded down when you need to haul larger items. The LS trim adds a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot, while the RS trim features a power-adjustable driver's seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. With the LT trim, you'll receive upgrades like dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, remote start, and SiriusXM. The range-topping Premier trim boasts luxury items like a power-adjustable passenger's seat, a Bose premium audio system, navigation, driver-seat memory, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, and wireless charging.

The Malibu offers standard safety features like electronic stability control, a rearview camera, a rear-seat reminder, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.
