1. Middle Concho Park at San Angelo
Located in the western outskirts of the city of San Angelo, the Middle Concho Park is a popular destination for hikers, swimmers, and anglers from the area. The park was built along the shores of the Middle Concho River, which is connected to the nearby Lake Nasworthy. The place has recreational facilities and different hiking trails, as well as a designated fishing area that is particularly popular among weekend visitors from San Angelo.
The Middle Concho Park is located just over 70 miles east of Big Lake, making it possible to get there in a little over an hour by car following route US-67 N. Once in the park, head to the fishing pier and get ready to find different species including Largemouth bass, Channel Catfish and Blue Catfish. 2. Johnson Park at Lake Fort Phantom Hill
Built around the shores of Lake Fort, Johnson Park is a popular recreation area among visitors from nearby Abilene and other cities in the entire state of Texas. Although there are no fishing boat rental areas or a marina, the place has easily accessible ramps and fishing piers, as well as bait stores inside the park. There is no entrance fee for visitors, and the nearest lodging facilities are located in the nearby city of Abilene.
